Financial Support
There are many ways you can help Ukandu deliver the hope and joy of our community. Below are a few examples of various ways other donors have used existing assets or accounts. We have access to professionals who can help you understand your options and make the highest impact possible.
Additional Financial Options
Many businesses offer the benefit of matching their employees’ personal gifts to a charity. This benefit is not always publicized, so talk with your employer directly to find out if they’ll match your personal gift to Ukandu.
Corporate Matching Gifts are a unique way for your business to multiply their impact! Matching gifts inspire other donors to contribute to Ukandu, taking the value of your gift far beyond its initial value. When you contribute a matching gift, your business will also reap the benefits of increased exposure to the Ukandu audience.
Ukandu accepts stock donations. Please be advised that our policy is to liquidate any stock donations immediately upon receipt. Gift value will be determined by the average of the high and low on the day of receipt into Ukandu’s brokerage account. If you’re interested in making a stock donation, please email Development Director, Johnna Loreen, for further information.
A qualified charitable distribution (QCD) allows individuals who are 70½ years old or older to donate up to $105,000 total to one or more charities directly from a taxable IRA instead of taking their required minimum distributions. As a result, donors may avoid being pushed into higher income tax brackets and prevent phaseouts of other tax deductions, though there are some other limitations. Talk with your wealth advisor to learn if this is a good avenue for you.
Talk with your DAF Advisor about how to make a contribution to Ukandu and make a difference in the lives of families impacted by childhood cancer.
Gifts of property – real estate, art, high-value items will be sold at the earliest convenience, as determined by the Ukandu board of directors. Please note that acceptance of gifts of property will be at the discretion of Ukandu Staff and Board. We cannot guarantee acceptance of a gift of property. Please reach out to Development Director, Johnna Loreen, for more information.
Legacy or Planned Giving is a unique commitment to a cause made by designating a nonprofit in your will. This special form of giving ensures that you will be remembered for your generosity and commitment to a cause long after passing. For more information or to talk more about this possibility, please reach out to Ukandu Development Director, Johnna Loreen.

What our community says
Explore the heartfelt testimonials from our program participants and volunteers as they share their stories of hope, resilience, and the joy of being part of our community.
I think camp is important to parents... because we're fighting two battles. We're fighting for our kids' lives. But we're also fighting for their spirit. I was desperate for someone to put a smile on his face. I wanted help with that. Being able to release him to Camp Ukandu where we knew he was going to be taken care of medically - and we knew we were going to get help reviving his spirit was a huge blessing and a relief.
Ukandu Caregiver
For me, one of the joys of Ukandu is witnessing the families grow closer during the week. With each other and connecting with other families who can relate. Some of the little stressors of everyday life (what's for dinner?) are put on hold and they are able to live in the moment, with their family and just be.
Ukandu Participant and Volunteer
That’s what was so great about [Ukandu]. Everyone knows. Everyone here is a part of the family that has had to do this. There’s nobody that understands like this community and these people that aren’t going to shy away from you.
